Drug-drug interactions account for 4% of death of cancer patients. Antibiotics (AB) and antineoplastic agents (AC) are characterized by their narrow therapeutic index and high inter-individual variability.
Project: Explore potential interactions between AB and AC through:
a) evaluation of potential displacement of AB from plasma proteins by AC drugs and its implications in the assessment of AB-AC interactions (ex vivo), and
b) investigation of potential effect of combination therapy between AC drugs and AB on the inhibitory effects of antineoplastic activity of AC drugs (in vitro).
